(Top 50 Countdown!!!) 40. Christopher Rainbow - "Give Me What I Cry For"

Like him out of the Isleys, and him out of Steely Dan, this is another chap we quite fancied having on the team for “Million Seller”, this time for his backing vocals, but even the Musicians Union couldn’t seem to find him: they came up with a Chris Rainbow, sure, but he was a trumpeter working on a cruise ship, and we didn’t need any trumpeting. Together with his “Solid State Brain” and “Gimme Me Just A Little Beat Of Your Heart” singles, we had this on high-rotation while making “Optimistic Fool”, with this one being especially helpful on “Starfishing”, apparently. No, I know, I can’t hear it either.
