(Top 50 Countdown!!!) 35. Bread - "Guitar Man"

Every town’s got them. Your town too. Nip out this weekend to any ‘rock pub’ with a regular local-act and there he’ll be, his smile genuine enough but still just a thin veneer over... well, what, exactly? Regret? Disappointment? Numbness? He coulda been a contender, you know. Maybe even was actually in a genuinely popular band once, you know, back in the day, and now here he is, not going gentle into that good night. This and “Rock And Roll (I Gave You All The Best Years Of My Life)” by Kevin Johnson were always touchstones for how we believed in the dream: not for ourselves, obviously (we weren’t that daft!) but, you know, in principle.

"Think Bubble" is an album (LP only) of 1995 demos for an unreleased Pooh Sticks album.
See 'About Me' for details.

  1. I had forgotten just magical "Guitar Man" sounds on old vinyl. I probably haven't heard it in that format since the around the time of Million Seller.
