You have to ignore the guitars pretending to seagulls: they’d be more suited to “Summer (The First Time)” by Bobby Goldsboro or something, cos surely there’s not a lot of seagulls in Nebraska, right? I mean, never been there, probably never will, but isn’t Nebraska even further from the sea than your average Ryanair airport is from where you actually wanted to go? Anyway, this one has that nice level of gothic-romantic mystery which seemed to often be favourite in Pooh Sticks-land, kinda equal parts “Wuthering Heights” and “Lady Eleanor”, with some "Don't Fear The Reaper" thrown in for the third verse. Plus, there’s no way it’s about a horse: it’s a metaphor, gotta be. This one came in especially handy for “All Things Must Pass” on the “Optimistic Fool” LP. We even had a song called “Wildfire” in our pot of 1995 demos, but it’s not on this “Think Bubble” album, although one called “Jimmy Webb’s Horse” is: no seagull guitars, but at least it’s got a real horse in it.
"Think Bubble" is an album (LP only) of 1995 demos for an unreleased Pooh Sticks album.
